The platform delivers monthly updates on NatHERS energy ratings, giving homeowners and industry stakeholders visibility into building performance across the country.
How the Portal Works
The dashboards utilise data gathered from the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme's Universal Certificates, which is the assessment pathway used by the majority of new dwellings in Australia to comply with energy efficiency requirements in the National Construction Code. Around 130,000 certificates are added to the CSIRO database each year, ensuring the platform remains current and relevant.

The portal allows users to explore energy rating data by selecting their state or territory and dwelling type. The interactive dashboards display average results for the last 12 months, including:
- NatHERS star ratings for houses and apartments
- Dominant construction systems used in each region
- Total internal dwelling areas (excluding garages)
- Number of dwellings assessed in each category
National Performance Overview
According to the latest data, Australian houses achieve an average of 7.0 stars, whilst apartments average 7.3 stars. Performance varies by state, with Western Australia's apartments leading at 8.0 stars, whilst the Northern Territory records lower averages at 6.4 stars for houses and 6.5 stars for apartments.
