NatHERS Expansion Continues with New Assessor Accreditation and Training Announcements
The National House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) is progressing major milestones for its expansion to existing homes, with new assessor accreditation providers and training pathways being established for 2026.
NatHERS Expansion Gaining Momentum
The NatHERS program is advancing its expansion to existing homes with several significant developments announced in recent weeks, according to the latest news from NatHERS.
New Accreditation Provider Appointed
Design Matters National (DMN) has been announced as the new assessor accreditation provider for NatHERS for existing homes, commencing services from April 2026. This announcement was made on 6 February 2026.
Training and Development Initiatives
The scheme is preparing to roll out comprehensive training programs across the industry. Key developments include:
- A tender process opened in December 2025 for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver training for existing homes assessors, with successful RTOs required to commence delivery in 2026
- Data collector training initiatives are being introduced to provide new opportunities within the sector
- Expressions of interest have been sought for existing homes assessor training to commence in January 2026
Stage 2 Implementation on Track
Key milestones have been delivered towards the release of Stage 2 of NatHERS for existing homes, with updates provided in the February 2026 edition of NatHERS News. Additionally, consultation on two additional training and accreditation pathways for NatHERS for existing homes commenced on 26 November 2025.
