ABCB Releases Major Updates to National Construction Code and Energy Efficiency Resources

The Australian Building Codes Board has released NCC 2025 alongside new calculators, case studies, and educational resources to support practitioners in implementing the updated building standards.

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has announced significant updates to its National Construction Code (NCC) resources and tooling, with NCC 2025 now available to building professionals and practitioners across Australia.

Key releases from the ABCB include:

  • New and updated NCC calculators (30 June 2026)
  • NCC 2025 case studies and worked examples (29 June 2026)
  • Updated NCC 2025 dataset (24 June 2026)
  • New NCC 2025 CPD micromodules and Tutor modules (25 May 2026)
  • Free NCC 2025 webinar series registration (11 May 2026)
  • Free online information session on PCA 2025 (3 August 2026)

The ABCB has also released new educational resources to support practitioners in understanding the updated code requirements. A new handbook on embodied carbon has been made available for practitioners looking to understand carbon implications in construction (22 July 2026).

Additionally, the ABCB has opened consultation on a National Voluntary Certification Scheme for Manufacturers of Prefabricated Construction (15 July 2026), reflecting ongoing efforts to modernise the National Construction Code and support more sustainable building practices.
